Tuesday, May 17: A Full Moon Election Night
As I drove home last night from spending time with our Northside Community Chapter of the First Coast Tea Party, I was guided down I-95 by the light of the moon.
The sky was blue-black and the back sides of the clouds were lit up from of a full moon. I had the radio turned to a station playing love songs (I turned off the Patriot Channel for the evening) and I enjoyed watching the moon light up the night sky as I cruised home with my sun roof open. The weather in North Florida has been unusually crisp and the wind has been sent us a cool breeze from the Atlantic Ocean. The windows were down and the coolness of the air refreshed my soul after an evening of political talk.
As I traveled along, I thought of tomorrow and the fact that as the polls close tomorrow night, the full moon will be shining down and lighting up the sky again.
A love song took me to thoughts of my husband and I counted in my head the number of full moons we had celebrated together. Ready for this - 450 full moons! There are many full moon memories in my head. I am reminded of the one I spent with a great friend and a client as we plopped down on the sands of Miami Beach, talked about life, sipped on a scrumptious margarita and toasted our futures to the moon futures. There were those full moon nights with our children as we explained why the moon was bigger than normal and why it was lighting up their room through the cracks in the . Those nights called for a special reading of Good Night Moon, our kids’ favorite bedtime story.
So tomorrow night, we will add one more full moon memory to our treasure chest of life. We will be reminded of the night that Mike Hogan became Mayor of Duval County. We will remember how difficult it was to win – not because Mike wasn’t the best choice – but because outsiders came to our town and messed with the electorate and with the heads of some of our local residents. We will remember they were really here to train up their paid “community organizers” for the upcoming Presidential election and they could care less about our beautiful city or the people within it.
We will remember the local newspaper, the Times Union, and the fact they didn’t investigate the candidates, or print the truth about them. Instead they used the only local newspaper we have to endorse their progressive candidates. We will remember the people who volunteered to help who had never volunteered before. We will remember all the Facebook postings and I Like Mike stickers. We will remember those who wanted their candidate to win and when he didn’t, they willingly threw their support behind Mike and ended up loving him and his wife, Judy. We will remember the new friends we made through this campaign cycle.
As I turned down our road, the moon guided me and lit the path to the end of the driveway. I went to the backyard before heading inside and I met the moon on our dock. He and I had a talk. I asked him to make sure the people get out and vote while the sun is on duty. I asked him to give favor to Mike and the others we have endorsed. I asked him to protect our city and rebuild the economy so people could find jobs. I prayed about other things and other people who were heavy on my heart. (Yes, Mr. Littlepage, I prayed.) I sat there for a while as the moon lit up the water and the ripples touched the bank while dancing to the light of the moon.
I walked back to the house as Mr. Moon lit the path. I could see my sweetheart through the glass doors and I realized something very important. There had been many full moons with him over the years and some were good and others were not. But no matter what – we are still here and so is He who turns the moon. The same thing will be true tomorrow. No matter what the outcome will be, He will be in charge of it. Life will go on and what is to be will be.
I’m praying for a good full moon memory on this Election Day. The only way to make that happen is to CAST YOUR VOTE and ENCOURAGE EVERYONE ELSE TO DO THE SAME. Let’s lasso a win for Mike and then lasso the moon in celebration of a hard fought win.
Join us as we create one more full moon memory with good friends, new friends and all those “silly” supporters of Mike Hogan. We will be celebrating at Mike Hogan’s campaign headquarters on the corner of Roosevelt and Timuquana after the polls close and the full moon lights up the night sky. I hope to see you there.

I hope everyone appreciates my sarcasm! I could never be proud of anyone who didn't take their civic responsibility seriously and resolve to have an informed opinion when casting their vote. Our election process becomes more of a joke every year! Real racism is declining, but racial bigotry is on the rise! That is the real shame!

Explain something to everyone, Louie; how can you have a great discussion with people that only voted for Alvin because they were told to? Maybe they also were offered money or some gifts. Would that be okay with you? You know, Louie, I am proud of my dog also. He is a good dog and in dog-years he is old enough to vote, but he doesn't follow politics either and is not eligible to vote. I know he really would have liked to vote, and I am sure that he would have made a better decision than your co-workers. So I think my dog was discriminated against, and that is a real shame: Ignorant people get to vote but my dog doesn't! That ain't right!

Surely the display of the most signs is not considered by voters as a reason to vote for a particular candidate. Ones history -character etc forms the basis of a voters decesion as to whom to vote for.Since over 92 % of blacks voted for Alvin is there a componet there that I detect? Maybe its not the number of printed signs. What say you?
I just learned that alvins present public job is as a EXECUTIVE IN RESID> at J U .-Can anyone tell me what in the hell that job is?

The polls been closed for awhile now. I have decided not to tune in any of the election results just yet. I am going to keep the faith. Regardless of the outcome, I believe we still have a mostly conservative/Republican City council. In the event that Alvin Brown wins, hopefully they will help hold the line on any outrageous spending plans he has up his sleeve. According to his latest campaign ad, he's never raised taxes. Of course not!! That is because he's never been elected. Let's hope it stays that way! Otherwise, I hope City Council will see to it that he keeps his word on cutting his salary and not taking a pension.

Regardless of the outcome of the election, which I am hopeful will be positive, we all have a lot of work to do in returning our country to a more Godly Nation! In the difference of opinion between Ron Littlepage and the 'Silly' supporters of Mike Hogan, it is important to remember that Benjamin Franklin recognized the difference between a Fool and a Wise Man (or in your case Billie, a Wise Woman) when he said the following: "The heart of the fool is in his mouth, but the mouth of the wise man is in his heart." May God continue to Bless America!

You are an amazing inspiration. I think you should compile a book of all these Blog posts for the past 2 years and I'm sure it would become a Bestseller...and a great way for God to bless and compensate you for all you have done for Jacksonville and for America.

voter alert-due to the heavy volume of voters duval county has announced that today only republicans will be allowed to vote-Next Tuesday 5/24 only democrats can vote--Call all the Dems you know and alert them-I think it is a great way to handle the high volume of voters.

RYAN NICHOLS - Hardened Criminal?? Seriously??
If you're not already aware. This is what's going on in DC while dangerous criminals are allowed back out on the streets. It's horrifying that this is happening to our citizens and veterans for protesting the hijacking of our election process. This is still happening! They are STILL being tortured and treated like full on terrorists.
